NEW YORK, March 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SocialFlow, the industry leading software platform for publishers and media companies, announced today's release of their 2016 benchmark report, Data Continues to Drive Social Performance. This is the third installment in as many years examining social performance by publishers and media companies. This report analyzed a subset of the more than 40 million posts made by SocialFlow clients, which reached more than 600 million unique users and generated more than 1 trillion social impressions across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ and Pinterest.
The report examines the overall health of media companies' content on the social platforms, how these companies are monetizing their social efforts and how video usage is impacting content strategy.
New data presented in this report includes:
- The amount of video content being published grew significantly: social posts that included video jumped 164% year over year
- Video posts received outsized reach: video posts accounted for 5% of posts, but garnered 32% of reach
- Recycling content is effective: on average cumulative reach increased 2x by the time a post was published three times
- Holiday and weekend publishing provide unexpected opportunity: publisher content posted on weekends and around holidays achieves up to 1.25% more clicks than content posted on weekdays
"At a time when it is essential that media companies be sure they are profiting from the premium content they create and distribute, we're happy to provide insight into how they can drive increased revenue through the social efforts that are already in place," says SocialFlow CEO Jim Anderson.
The whitepaper is available for download here.
SocialFlow will host a webinar to present the report's findings on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 2:00pm EST. Stephanie Fossan, VP of Strategy, will join Anderson to share the report plus actionable recommendations based on the data. Register for the webinar.
