SnapOne Cloud Platform Behind Launch of Personal and Data Security App "Data Safe" for Feature Phones in Russia
SnapOne, Inc. Expands Security App Offering in Russia Based on SnapOne's Cloud App Platform
PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SnapOne, Inc., a fast growing developer of cloud-service applications and underlying platform, announced the availability of its Russian language version of Snap Secure®, known as Data Safe, for feature phone subscribers in Russia. SnapOne, Inc. initially partnered in Russia with Beeline, a subsidiary of VimpelCom, the largest wireless operator in Eastern Europe, to build Data Safe for Android devices and has now expanded the offering to include Java ME and Nokia S60 feature phones.
More than 50 percent of mobile phone users in Russia use a feature phone, like the Java ME and Nokia S60 devices. Data Safe gives this audience access to comprehensive mobile security and protection in an increasingly dangerous cyber-environment. With Russia being the largest mobile market in Europe, this expansion also enables SnapOne, Inc. to further solidify its presence in the region.
"Feature phones are very popular in Russia and we are excited to offer their users this level of mobile protection," said Jiren Parikh, president and CEO of SnapOne, Inc. "Plus, by expanding our service to feature phones, we're learning even more about the country's mobile-security threats and will continue to use the information to tailor our services."
Data Safe is a cloud-service application that provides a broad range of protection and security for Android devices, and now feature phones. It allows Java ME and Nokia S60 users to back up and restore their contacts, calendars and notification lists. Nokia S60 users can also remotely locate their device on a map or with a loud audible sound, as well as lock and wipe their device in the event that the phone is stolen or lost. The application easily backs up and transfers contacts from a feature phone to a new device, making it the ideal tool to have in phone upgrade/replacement situations. Upcoming features include the ability to back up photo libraries.
Modeling the September 2013 Data Safe launch on Android devices (version 2.3 and above), the app will be marketed as a co-branded product and is available for download by Beeline subscribers. This continues a new business model for SnapOne, Inc. to reach consumers through a co-branded offering in partnership with leading mobile operators and service providers.
