SmartenFit (Health and Fitness) App Release
SmartenFit is a companion app to the book, "Smart People Don't Diet". It was designed by a health psychologist to help busy people monitor food/fitness choices holistically, toward sustainable lifestyle change without counting every calorie or step.
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Available today, the SmartenFit app is a research-based healthy eating and fitness app that provides a holistic approach to wellness. The goal of SmartenFit is to help users adopt a sustainable healthy lifestyle – beyond New Year's resolutions. The app is for those looking for a simplified way to monitor their nutritional choices and exercise, and set realistic and attainable goals without having to count every calorie or step. The tips and tools in SmartenFit are complementary to the book "Smart People Don't Diet" by Dr. Charlotte Markey, a health psychology professor at Rutgers University. The advice in the book and the SmartenFit app is based on decades of scientific evidence from psychologists, nutritionists, public health professionals, and doctors.

SmartenFit was developed by three friends with PhD's and a common interest in health and wellness. Char, Lorie, and Jen met in their doctoral program at the University of California, Riverside in 1997 and have been friends ever since. Char became a world-renowned expert in health psychology and currently teaches at Rutgers University (www.CharlotteMarkey.com). Lorie became a data scientist and entrepreneur working in the domains of marketing research and education (http://coreducational.com/). Jen went on to become an expert in user experience and mobile innovation and has worked for several companies in Silicon Valley including Intuit, Microsoft, and America Online. As working mothers, they have all struggled to find easy ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Thus, the primary goal of SmartenFit is to provide a tool for regular people with busy lives that facilitates a path toward sustainable good health.
