Sharethrough Integrates with Facebook® Platform for Social Video Distribution Inside Social Games
New Facebook Credits test program will enable people to earn Credits when they watch a sponsored video within select games
SAN FRANCISCO, May 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sharethrough, the leader in social video advertising, today announced that it is participating in a Facebook Credits program that will enable people on Facebook to earn Credits for watching sponsored videos within select games. The program is an extension of Facebook's current Facebook Credits offers product and is part of a broader test of new ways for people to earn Credits, which can then be used to buy premium goods in social games and applications.
The Facebook Credits program will integrate brand video content directly within games on Facebook Platform, and Credits will be distributed to users in exchange for watching videos. For example, someone playing a social game will have the option to click on a video within the game and then will earn a Facebook Credit by watching the video. The direct integration of brand videos within online entertainment experiences such as games is a key element to social video advertising, as integration leads to higher levels of engagement and sharing of brand video content.
Having distributed hundreds of brand social video campaigns within online games, Sharethrough has helped demonstrate that in-game social video can deliver significant increases in brand metrics. For example, a recent in-game social video campaign distributed by Sharethrough registered a 108 percent lift in brand awareness, as measured by Vizu. Sharethrough's data also shows that Facebook is the top-performing platform for in-game social video advertising: Sharethrough reports that brand video sharing rates within Facebook social games have historically been 270 percent higher than in-game advertising on other platforms.
"Sharethrough exists to help brands succeed with content, not ads. This program is a huge validation of that vision, as it will create premium opportunities for brand video content to be seen and shared," said Dan Greenberg, co-founder and CEO of Sharethrough. "We are thrilled to see Facebook provide game publishers with a powerful new way to monetize their games via Facebook Credits and for the lift that this will bring to the social video advertising industry."
