CARLSBAD, Calif., Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- A webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22, to discuss the most-complete analysis to date of U.S. companies required to file disclosures about the use of conflict minerals in their products. The webinar will provide industry analysts, investors, the news media and others with a chance to hear additional insights from the report's authors about the status of transparency in supply chains and efforts by companies to avoid reputational and operational risks.
The Webinar is scheduled for 11 a.m. (PDT) Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015. Pre-registration is required at: http://bit.ly/1NBY7Ef
The Responsible Sourcing Network's (RSN) "Mining the Disclosures 2015" report is its second investors' guide to conflict minerals reporting by publicly traded companies based in the United States. This year's analysis has been expanded to examine all aspects of social performance.
The webinar will feature report co-authors Andrew Arriaga, RSN's Conflict Minerals Research Manager, and Patricia Jurewicz, RSN Director. The session also will include supply chain transparency expert Jennifer Kraus, co-founder and chief scientific officer from Source Intelligence, to provide a look into current efforts by major publicly traded companies to meet or exceed investor expectations.
"Supply chain transparency goes beyond conflict minerals. Governments around the world are adopting more regulations and the demands on companies for socially responsible performance are increasing," Kraus said. "The keys to performance are with data collection, data validation, overall greater due diligence as well as how to share your information with the public to advance your brand."
RSN's report is the only study of its kind establishing indicators to gauge overall socially responsible performance by companies. The 2015 RSN report also provides a detailed examination of 155 publicly traded companies across 20 industries, trending scores from the prior year report, and multiple takeaways for investors.
"Mining the Disclosures 2015" examines filings made in conjunction with Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act, which requires U.S. publicly traded companies to audit their supply chains and determine whether their products contain minerals mined from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and neighboring regions. Revenue from the sale of these minerals has been used to sustain a devastating armed conflict in the region.
