Self-Cleaning Smart Card Connector Cleans Contacts with Every Mating Cycle
Industrial@Amphenol Card|Mate ideal for applications with limited space
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich., April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Industrial@Amphenol, a leader in industrial interconnect products, introduces Card|Mate®, an extremely small smart card connector with self-cleaning wiping contacts that ensures a reliable data connection on every insertion.

The compact and robust connector can withstand up to 500,000 mating cycles and measures just 57 mm x 30.5 mm x 5 mm, providing the smallest form factor and the most economical design on the market.
Because of its miniature size and enhanced security features, this new integrated circuit connector is ideal for use in payment terminals and physical access systems for networks, where space is limited, yet data is highly sensitive.
To help avoid manipulation via the card slot and to protect against fraud, eight data contacts are designed into the rear of each unit. This feature also allows for easy access to the contacts should re-work be required during the printed circuit board assembly process.
In an effort to avoid equipment from malfunctioning, Amphenol's new smart card reader connector features dust protection for the 'card present' switch as well as a debris slot at the rear of the connector.
Delivered in trays for easy use with pick and place processing equipment, Card|Mate offers SMT solderability and complies with ISO 7810 and ISO 7816, two leading international standards for electronic ID cards.
Card|Mate has an operating temperature of -25 degrees C to +70 degrees C. It has a current rating of <1 A and a rated voltage of <15 VDC. The data contacts have a maximum contact resistance of 100 megaohms, while the switch has a contact resistance of 1 Ohm.
