SEIU United Long Term Care Workers (ULTCW) Canvass in Riverside in Effort to Extend Current State Tax Revenues
Workers Encouraging Residents to Call or E-mail their Legislator
RIVERSIDE, Calif., June 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Dozens of SEIU United Long Term Care Workers (ULTCW) walked door to door in neighborhoods in Riverside Saturday as part of a statewide effort to encourage legislators to extend current state tax revenues before the deadline of June 30th. The canvassers spoke to residents and asked them to call or email their legislators to encourage them to support the extension of tax revenues.
If the revenues are not extended, the state could see $10 billion in cuts to public services that help some of the most vulnerable in the state, including seniors, the disabled and the blind.
"Many people in the state will suffer a crisis in this state if the taxes are not extended. My community, the seniors and the disabled, will be one of the groups that suffer the most. They need those taxes to be extended so that the programs that help them won't be cut any further," said Maria Rinallo, ULTCW member, who participated in the Riverside canvass.
ULTCW members also took part in a canvass in Moreno Valley.
SEIU United Long Term Care Workers (ULTCW) is California's leading long term care organization dedicated to providing and protecting quality care for some of our most vulnerable residents.
