SeedInvest Announces That Knightscope Surpassed $10M Raised, Becoming The Most Successful Crowdfunding Campaign To Date
NEW YORK, Aug. 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SeedInvest, a leading equity crowdfunding platform, announced today that Knightscope surpassed $10,000,000 raised in the company's Regulation A+ "mini-IPO", making it the most successful equity crowdfunding campaign in SeedInvest's history. Knightscope still has almost two months left in their online fundraise, ending on October 10th, 2017.
SeedInvest has now helped over 200 companies raise around $80 million since inception and has already surpassed $25 million of investment volume so far in 2017. Initially SeedInvest worked with just accredited investors on more traditional fundraises but recently opened-up its platform more broadly once the final pieces of the JOBS Act kicked-in. Last year SeedInvest began to enable more established startups to raise larger growth rounds online through Regulation A+ and Knightscope is now the first to surpass $10 million raised.
"Through the Reg A+ 'mini-IPO' process we have been able to fundraise, connect with potential clients, recruit and build the brand - all at the same time. And now, we have 3,000+ backers all across the country rooting for us, opening doors and generally being extremely supportive as we rollout out our autonomous security robots nationwide," said William Santana Li, chairman and chief executive officer, Knightscope, Inc.
Knightscope joins other well-known startups such as Virtuix and DSTLD which have tapped Regulation A+ to raise capital online. SeedInvest expects more companies to follow suit and leverage Regulation A+ to raise Series A and B rounds given the clear potential illustrated by startups such as Knightscope. SeedInvest also points out that companies are beginning to recognize that raising capital through equity crowdfunding provides advantages over raising capital more traditionally.
"In addition to utilizing online fundraising to raise capital more efficiently, companies are realizing a number of additional gains from equity crowdfunding," said Ryan Feit, CEO and Co-Founder of SeedInvest. "Our data suggests that by building an army of loyal investors, companies will benefit from those same investors spending 50% more and referring twice as many customers."
