CULVER CITY, Calif., Sept. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Maker Studios, a division of The Walt Disney Company, announced today that season two of the original series "Wonder Quest" has attracted 10MM views, less than halfway through the season. The second season of the award-winning show premiered on YouTube and YouTube Kids August 20.
"Wonder Quest" is an animated series set in the world of Minecraft, one of the most popular video games today, and stars Joseph Garrett, better known to millions of fans as Stampy Cat—coined "The Mister Rogers of Minecraft" by Entertainment Weekly.
The series lives on the WONDER QUEST YouTube channel, which also features the companion series "I Wonder," with "Side Quest," a further extension of the show, living on Stampy Cat's Stampylonghead YouTube channel. New episodes premiere every Saturday through November 5.
"Wonder Quest" season one premiered in April 2015 to wide fan acclaim—the newly created YouTube channel gained more than 100,000 subscribers in just 48-hours. Season one has now attracted more than 70 million views across the three programs. The series has received multiple awards and nominations including Kidscreen, Webby, and the Cynopsis D and Cynopsis Kids !magination awards. In season two, Stampy Cat and his friend Wizard Keen again work to save their town of Wonderberg, this time through time travel. Aphmau, TheDiamondMinecart, Hank Green, LDShadowLady, MiniMuka, NettyPlays, Rhett and Link, Shay Carl, Sqaishey and more, all lend their voices for season two.
Stampy Cat will celebrate the series success at MINECON 2016, September 24-25 at the Anaheim Convention Center, where he will meet fans, talk Minecraft, "Wonder Quest," and more.
YouTube Gaming will also celebrate the global Minecraft phenomenon with a MINECON 2016 live event page and onsite virtual reality (VR) content. As part of the VR initiative, fans can participate in an immersive "Wonder Quest" experience—"Spot the Differences," available now on the WONDER QUEST YouTube channel, allows fans to participate in a fun identification game through Stampy's house. Additional installments of VR content include a rollercoaster ride through season two, a 360-degree Stampy dream, a Halloween-themed tale, and more, all coming soon to the YouTube channel.
