Search for Innovative Products for Airway Clearance
Edison Nation Medical and Leading Respiratory Care Organization AARC Team Up To Search for Innovations from Respiratory Care Therapists
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Premier healthcare innovation marketplace, Edison Nation Medical, and the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC), today announce a global search to uncover innovations in airway clearance products that are clinically efficient and effective devices, allow for greater patient comfort, and are smaller and lighter for greater portability. This innovation search is open now through January 4, 2016. Additional information can be found at EdisonNationMedical.com/Airway.
Innovation submissions will be reviewed through Edison Nation Medical's 8-step evaluation and top ideas will be presented to medical device manufacturers for potential commercialization. Inventors receive an advance of $2500, 50% of licensing royalties or revenues, and will be listed on the patent.
With the Affordable Care Act and growing emphasis on reducing hospital readmissions, the healthcare market is pushing for new developments in airway clearance therapies, including the shift to home care products with lower cost options.
"The changes in hospital reimbursement are driving changes and innovation in the airway clearance device market. We're looking for innovative devices that offer effective, less invasive solutions that are smaller and lighter for great mobility and portability," said Robert Grajewski, president of Edison Nation Medical. "AARC advocates on behalf of patients as well as respiratory care therapists and they're committed to uncovering innovations that improve patient outcomes."
"The field of respiratory care has always been an unique combination of science and art blended together to facilitate positive, patient-centric outcomes in patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases. The ability to produce technology that is based on solid clinical evidence that shows both effectiveness and efficiency are important to the profession and the respiratory therapist," said Timothy R. Myers, MBA, RRT-NPS, FAARC, Associate Executive Director for the AARC.
