Scott & White Healthcare Finalizes Partnership With Trinity Medical Center in Brenham
Scott & White Hospital - Brenham expands health system to 10 hospitals and health partners
BRENHAM and TEMPLE, Texas, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Scott & White Healthcare has finalized its partnership with Trinity Medical Center in Brenham, Texas. A letter of intent to partner was first announced in November 2009. With this partnership, Trinity Medical Center officially becomes Scott & White Hospital-Brenham, expanding the Scott & White system to 10 hospitals or hospital partners serving residents of Central Texas.
Scott & White Hospital-Brenham includes a 60-bed acute care hospital, a 128-bed long-term care facility, and a Foundation.
"We're pleased to welcome this newest addition to the Scott & White family and we look forward to what this partnership can provide to everyone in the Brenham and surrounding communities," says Alfred B. Knight, M.D., president and CEO of Scott & White Healthcare. "As the population of Washington and Brazos Counties continues to grow, Scott & White will grow to meet the needs of these communities."
Dr. Knight went on to say that "we're providing access to a more extensive network of physicians and a comprehensive system of care linked to more than 800 physicians and more than 12,000 staff."
"It's a win-win to have Brenham's full-service community hospital backed by the strongest regional health system in Central Texas," said Charles Moser, chair of Trinity Medical Center.
"This partnership allows us to provide enhanced support to Brenham physicians, while expanding services for patients," says Donald Draehn, M.D., chief of staff at Scott & White Hospital-Brenham. "The medical staff will remain an 'open' staff model, which means patients won't be required to have a Scott & White physician in order to use the hospital services and any local physician with privileges can use the facility," said Dr. Draehn.
The current leadership staff will remain in place. "These long-standing, trusted members of the Brenham community will continue to run the facilities," said Dr. Knight. "The ongoing success of Scott & White Healthcare-Brenham will in part be due to the continued support of the communities to use the facility, and equally as important to continue their already demonstrated philanthropic support of this hospital."
In April 2010, the former Trinity Health Services Corporation (THSC) and its sponsor, the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, agreed to end their 20-year relationship. The partnership with Scott & White was contingent upon the final dissolution of Trinity's affiliation with the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio, as well as several other steps related to partnership transactions.
