SCORE Appoints William Murray as National Volunteer Director of Field Development
Murray to Support SCORE's Vision to Grow 1 Million Small Businesses
WASHINGTON, June 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SCORE "Counselors to America's Small Business" has appointed William (Bill) Murray of Sarasota, Fla., as the National Volunteer Director of Field Development. Murray, a member of SCORE's National Advisory Council, will hold this national post dedicated to expanding SCORE services, offices and volunteer network across the U.S.
In 2009, SCORE adopted a new vision to grow 1 million successful small businesses by 2017. As National Volunteer Director of Field Development, Murray will help develop and launch strategies to build SCORE's chapter network across the country. He will work with leaders to prepare and implement expansion plans to increase local outreach in serving communities across America.
Murray has a strong background in operations and business process management. He retired from Westinghouse Electric Corp. in 1996 as director of corporate computing services. He was responsible for the operation and support systems for a number of major business and scientific computing centers, as well as for thousands of PCs and scientific workstations.
In 2000, William joined Manasota SCORE in Florida and served as chapter chair in 2002 and 2003. In 2004, he became the district director for Southwest Florida. In 2005, Murray was named to the National SCORE Advisory Council, where he contributed to key initiatives including the development of a new business model for SCORE operations.
