Scan-Optics provides solutions for some of the world's largest business process outsourcers (BPOs) and scanning bureaus, processing tens of millions of pages per month. Brainware Distiller's content-based classification technology will allow Scan-Optics to accurately sort documents without using templates, keywords, zones, barcodes or other forms-based techniques. Distiller's context-based extraction will capture document indexing information as well as specific fields of data and line-item detail before validating each field and posting the extracted information to back-end content management or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. This end-to-end offering serves as a scan and capture platform for processing invoices, remittance statements, orders and all other transactional documents processed by Scan-Optics.
"After carefully evaluating the market, we found that Brainware's technology sets them apart when it comes to scale and extraction accuracy," said Peter Moralee, Managing Director of Scan-Optics Limited. "Their ability to classify documents will greatly enhance our Digital Mailroom offerings, and their ability to extract and validate line item detail will enable us to expand beyond the mailroom into business operations such as accounts payable, accounts receivable and order processing."
"The market is recognizing that the right combination of technology and process improvement is shifting the cost curve for companies that choose the right partners," said Colin Kaye, Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliances for Brainware. "By enabling leaders like Scan-Optics to increase the breadth of services they offer along with the resulting value they deliver to their customers, we create a win-win for everyone."
Scan-Optics Limited, established in the United Kingdom in 1973, is a wholly owned subsidiary of North American-based Scan Optics LLC.
