HALF MOON BAY, Calif., Sept. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Jason Collier, co-founder of Scale Computing, the leading provider of hyperconverged solutions to the mid-market, has been selected as one of the speakers at the emerging and insightful technology conference entitled The Reckoning. Taking place September 13-15, this conference asks IT professionals (or 'technologists') to think beyond their traditional responsibilities and contemplate how they can infuse innovation and creativity into their jobs and more profoundly communicate their ideas to influential colleagues.
The Reckoning is not a traditional trade show but rather a learning experience, a retreat, and a gathering of like-minded technologists. This two day conference brings together a single track of TED-style short talks with an "Unconference" in collaboration with the vBrownbag community organization, where the participants set the agenda. The event speakers will address more than 150 IT professionals to discuss how to better communicate effectively about their businesses and technologies. Attendees will also learn how to be entrepreneurial in a profession known for being process-oriented.
"We're gathering a group of people who want to make IT better," said conference organizer John Mark Troyer. "But these are people who know that in the long term their career success depends on not just knowing the latest technology, but on their communication skills, creativity, and network. I have seen over and over again that IT pros who write and blog and participate in the community have careers that take off like a rocket."
Collier will be leading a session on how to build a start-up IT business. As a co-founder of Scale Computing, Collier is an ideal candidate to convey how to build a full-fledged business from scratch. He will discuss how to act upon one's own entrepreneurial spirit; how to create a business plan and how to better communicate the vision and goals of the start-up.
"After doing startup companies for coming up on 20 years you pick up a lot of little nuggets of wisdom along the way," says Collier. "Getting a chance to share some of those in a forum such as this is always a real treat for me."
Several IT Pros, social media experts and writers will join Collier in speaking roles at The Reckoning. Such notables include Robert Scoble, renowned technology writer and blogger at Rackspace; Amy Lewis, Director of Influence Marketing at Solidfire; James Urquhart, SVP Analytics Performance at SOASTA and columnist at CIO.com; and Alessandro Perilli, GM Cloud Strategy at Red Hat and former research director at Gartner.
The event organizers for The Reckoning note that "…this event will be a learning experience, a retreat, and a gathering of like-minded people…Be warned: the way you approach technology and your career may never be the same again!" The conference will be live streamed and the videos will be available after the conference at techreckoning.com.
