Say 'Hello Dali' at The Ritz-Carlton Hotels of Atlanta: New Overnight Package Includes VIP Tickets to Salvador Dali: The Late Work at the High Museum of Art
ATLANTA, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Overnight guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta (Downtown) and The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead may reserve a new package with VIP tickets to a major exhibition of one of the most important groupings of the Salvador Dali's later work to ever be shown, exclusively at the High Museum of Art from August 7, 2010 to January 9, 2011.
"Salvador Dali: The Late Work," explores the artist's fascination with science, optical effects and illusionism, and comprises more than 40 paintings and related drawings, prints and other Dali ephemera. Beginning in the late 1930s, Dali went through a radical change in which he embraced Catholicism, developed the concept of nuclear mysticism and reinvented himself as an artist.
Highlights of the exhibition include several works not seen in the U.S. in 50 years, including the monumental "Christ of St. John of the Cross," "Santiago El Grande," and from a private collection in Spain not seen publicly since 1959, "Assumpta Corpuscularia Lapislazulina."
The final section of the exhibition traces Dali's work in illustration, fashion and theatre that predated commercial ventures by such "celebrity artists" as Andy Warhol and Jeff Koons. Guests will view examples of sculpture, jewelry, a chess set, some of the artist's rarely exhibited portrait works of America's high society, and Andy Warhol's "Screen Test: Salvador Dali" and the photomontage "Mao Marilyn" that blends Marilyn Monroe's features with those of Chairman Mao, which Dali commissioned from photographer Philippe Halsman.
