WALLDORF, Germany, Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced the appointment of Michael Naimoli to vice president and head of the Life Sciences Industry Business Unit. As SAP continues to expand its portfolio of innovative solutions for the life sciences industry, Naimoli will help drive the company's leadership efforts in providing strategic software solutions to life sciences organizations around the world. He will report to John Papandrea, senior vice president and global head of Health Sciences, SAP AG.

Naimoli has over 20 years experience within the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries in the areas of product and process development, drug discovery, manufacturing and quality assurance. He worked for Merck & Co. as a research scientist before being recruited to SmithKline Beecham (prior to its merger with Glaxo Welcome) as part of the Biotechnology Specialists team challenged with bringing the company's new biopharmaceutical business online. Naimoli joins SAP from Microsoft, where he led the Life Sciences Industry team in the development of solutions and sales channels in order to generate net-new business development.

Naimoli holds a bachelor's degree in molecular biology from the Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree from Penn Engineering and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
