CHATSWORTH, Calif. and ORLANDO, Fla., June 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- (INFOCOMM) – SANYO North America Corporation (SANYO), a subsidiary of SANYO Electric Co., Ltd., one of the world's largest manufacturers of LCD and DLP projectors, announced today the introduction of a compact, portable Wide XGA projector with the highest brightness in its class at 3800 lumens. Effective even in well-lit offices, conference rooms and classrooms, the PLC-WU3800 enables easy set-up, even for first-time users, with an "Auto Setup Function," and it offers advanced display functions including Picture in Picture and Picture by Picture. Initial shipments of the PLC-WU3800 are scheduled for July with a suggested retail price of $1,995.00.

Its high performance optical engine features a high aperture ratio LCD panel with 1280x800 True WXGA native resolution, with improved light efficiency and effective cooling technology that enable its high output 275-watt lamp to produce 3800 Lumens of brightness.
The 16:10 aspect ratio enables users to project images identical to the screen display of their notebook and laptop computers. The wide aspect ratio makes it possible to display more information on screen, and facilitates projector features such as Picture in Picture, which allows images from multiple sources to be displayed, and Picture by Picture, which is ideal for teleconferencing, as both the active presentation and the live view of other participants can be displayed side-by-side.
Compact in size (13.2 x 3.1 x 10.1 in.) and lightweight at 7.9 pounds, it is easily transported from one room to another or even from venue to venue. Especially useful in office and classroom environments where the projector will be operated by multiple users, its "Auto Setup Function" makes setup quick and easy, even for inexperienced operators unfamiliar with the projector's controls. The projector automatically searches for the active video source and selects the correct input, while an "Auto Keystone Correction" function ensures a distortion-free image by applying the appropriate correction when it detects that the projector is not level. Once presentations are finished, the "Power-off and Go" function allows the power cord to be unplugged without requiring a cool down cycle, preventing potential damage to the projector. A high magnification 1.6x zoom lens provides users with enormous flexibility with projector placement relative to the screen, enabling throw distances of 3.25 to over 39.70 feet.
"This new projector is a highly cost-effective way for businesses and schools to upgrade to a widescreen projector with the brightness to operate effectively in virtually any meeting or classroom environment. Anyone can use its automated functions for a quick and easy set up, but it also offers advanced Picture in Picture and Picture by Picture capabilities," stated Sam Malik, Vice President and General Manager of the Corporate Solutions Group in SANYO North America's Digital Solutions Division.
Multiple inputs are available, including an HDMI 1.3b connector for best digital imaging quality. Dual D-Sub15 inputs can be used for analog Component and RGB signals, and single connectors are available for S-Video and Composite (RCA) video. Both mini and RCA jack stereo audio inputs are also provided. For control, a D-Sub 9 and an RJ45 network connector are available. An onboard speaker provides audio playback without requiring an external speaker or amplifiers.
Its eco-conscious high-efficiency design also conforms to the European RoHS Directive on components and manufacturing, and even its packaging has been designed for easy recycling as used paper.
