Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Plans Big 2010 Season

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has an action-packed 2010 season in store, with special events kicking off on May 22. This summer the historic seaside amusement park will open a new ride, present twelve free summer beach concerts, host Corey Feldman and his band Truth Movement for a special showing of Lost Boys, and bring Brazilian acrobats to the beach for Circo Brazil, a dynamic six week show.

A New Ride

The new Haunted Castle ride, scheduled to open Memorial Day Weekend, will take visitors through the Boardwalk's dark basement visiting scary scenes from life in a Haunted Castle: a demented kitchen staff prepares a meal, a freakish banquet gets underway, a ghoulish king intimidates visitors, and a swamp monster guards the escape. Watch out for creepy gravediggers, and a devil dog.

Free Friday Night Bands On the Beach

The Boardwalk's Free Friday Night beach concerts bring bands from the 70s, 80s and 90s to the park's beach bandstand for two free shows every Friday night from June 18 to September 3. The 2010 lineup includes Blue Oyster Cult, Loverboy, Eddie Money, Spin Doctors, The Ides of March, The Tubes featuring Fee Waybill, Naked Eyes, A Flock of Seagulls, Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone, Papa Doo Run Run, Starship starring Mickey Thomas, and Santana original lead singer Gregg Rolie.  For more information visit www.beachboardwalk.com/concerts

Circo Brazil

Circo Brazil will perform two free shows a day on the beach bandstand every Sunday through Thursday from July 11 – August 19. From Brazilian martial arts to soccer stunts and amazing acrobatics, the dynamic thirty-minute show is geared towards families.

Lost Boys

They're back! The original campy vampire movie, filled with Boardwalk scenes is coming to a large screen on Main Beach on June 30. The last time the movie was shown at the Boardwalk was during the park's Centennial in 2007. This event is dedicated to actor Corey Haim, who passed away earlier this year. Corey Feldman is scheduled to introduce the movie and his band Truth Movement will play on the bandstand before the show.

Season Preview

A special Season Preview on Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 11am to 6pm features performances by Circo Brazil, a beach concert by A Flock of Seagulls, and other free entertainment. All Season Preview events are free and open to the public. The traditional start of summer at the Boardwalk is Memorial Day Weekend, however Boardwalk rides are already open daily April – May 27, with limited operations on weekdays.
