SANS Announces National Cyber Security Training Agenda for 2018
Will Address the Growing Demand for Skilled Cyber Security Professionals Driven by a Rise in Cybercrime
BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The cyber security job forecast has been unable to keep pace with the dramatic rise in cybercrime. With 3.5 million unfilled cyber security positions predicted by 2021(1), finding skilled professionals to fend off attacks will become increasingly more difficult for organizations. To help cultivate the next generation of cyber security professionals needed to combat cybercrime, SANS has expanded its national cyber security training events to include six major events in 2018.
According to Ed Skoudis (@edskoudis), SANS NetWars CyberCity Director and Faculty Fellow, "In the rush to address the cyber security workforce shortage, we must not forget about the equally pressing need to simultaneously consider and define the professional standards and credentials for the leadership of this rapidly growing workforce. This requires grooming individuals so that they have the right mix of technical skills and communication skills. SANS' national training events offer the unique opportunity for IT professionals at every level to select from a wide variety of immersion courses to build their career and protect their organization's assets."
SANS national training events feature hands-on immersion style training courses taught by top cyber security professionals from around the world. Experts will share real-life success stories and essential defensive skills and techniques needed to protect and secure an organization. Courses are available for those new to cyber security as well as highly seasoned security professionals looking to advance their career. Participation in NetWars challenges will be offered at each of these events.
The 2018 national event schedule is as follows:
- SANS Security East 2018 (Jan. 8 – 13), New Orleans, LA
- SANS 2018 (April 3 - 10 ), Orlando, FL
- SANS Security West 2018 (May 11 – 16), San Diego, CA
