San Jose Firefighters to Expose Fatal Flaws with City's 'Dynamic Deployment' Scheme

What:

San Jose Firefighters will be meeting to discuss the department's response to four fires yesterday, which crippled the City's ability to respond to critical incidents and life threatening emergencies.

Yesterday's fires struck in the wake of Mayor Chuck Reed and the City Council's decision to lay off nearly 50 firefighters in July.  City officials have argued that their new model for deploying Fire Department resources, dubbed "Dynamic Deployment," will mean that response times will not increase despite drastic reductions in the size of the Department.

San Jose Firefighters will use yesterday's incidents, and the Fire Department's response, to demonstrate the true impact of Mayor Reed's untested deployment strategy, one that ultimately risks the lives of San Jose residents in the name of political expediency.
