San Diego Boca FC Extends Win Streak With 2-1 Road Win Against Sonoma Sol

SANTA ROSA, Calif., May 9 /PRNewswire/ -- San Diego Boca FC (3-1-0) overcame an early deficit to beat the Sonoma County Sol (0-2-2) 2-1 Sunday afternoon and extend their winning streak to a league-best three games.

San Diego Boca FC head coach Eliseo "Papo" Santos stated, "We played against a good team with home field advantage. Our players came out not really prepared unfortunately but the early goal was a wake up call. Once we made our adjustments, the team played very well together."

In the opening moments of the game, San Diego Boca FC turned the ball over in their defensive third allowing Sonoma County to take a 1-0 lead. San Diego Boca FC responded well to the early mistake, maintaining their poise and establishing control of the game. Some quick passing and great ball movement created several early scoring opportunities for Boca FC to even the score.

In the 30th minute, a brilliant series of one-touch passing that started from the left side dissected the Sonoma County Sol defense, and culminated in San Diego Boca's first goal, coming from Andres Canizalez, knotting the score at 1-1.

The second half was dominated by San Diego Boca FC, as they maintained possession for most of the half. They created numerous chances to extend their lead, and made good in the 69th minute when Froilan Nolasco drilled a shot from just inside the 18-yard box. Nolasco's shot bounced off the post directly to Matthew Roget, who was ready to finish and give San Diego Boca FC the 2-1 lead.

San Diego Boca FC dropped into a defensive posture after gaining the lead, and Roget's goal proved to be the game winner.

San Diego Boca FC move up to second place with the win, only one point behind Western Division leading Real San Jose. The two teams meet up again Saturday, May 22 in San Jose. San Diego Boca FC continues their road trip with it's next match in Sacramento to face the Sacramento Gold on Sunday, May 16.
