SAIC Donates $500,000 to University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering
Company Continues Support for Educational Programs Emphasizing Science and Technology, as Part of its Strategic University Alliances Program
MCLEAN, Va. and LOS ANGELES, June 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it will donate $500,000 to the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering over the next five years. As part of SAIC's Strategic University Alliances Program, the donation reflects SAIC's commitment to supporting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) educational programs that are helping develop the innovative workforce of the 21st century.
The Viterbi School is one of the nation's leading engineering institutions in the fields of aerospace, astronautics and space technology; biomedical, chemical, civil; computer science and engineering; electrical, environmental, industrial systems, materials science; and mechanical engineering and systems architecture. The Viterbi School offers 1,800 undergraduate students more than 30 degree options, and provides its 3,300 graduate students with advanced studies in over 25 fields. Ken Dahlberg, SAIC's former Chair of the Board of Directors and CEO, received a master's degree in electrical engineering from USC in 1969.
