Rural Smart Grid Summit Moved to October
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Due to unprecedented interest and scheduling needs by industry insiders, the Rural Smart Grid Summit (RSGS) has been moved to October 26 through 29th, 2010 at the El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.
"Many of the invited eighty plus CEOs of the top electric coops from across the United States had schedule conflicts with the original April dates, yet wanted to interact in an intimate business setting with Smart Grid technology leaders like IBM, IBEC and Balance Energy," stated William Booth, Event Director of the RSGS. "Because of their interest and scheduling conflicts with the April dates, we have moved the event to October."
The RSGS is an exclusive, invitation-only, fully paid event for the CEOs of eighty plus U.S. electric coops. The electric coops will interact in small, intimate venues with Smart Grid technology executives.
"The Rural Smart Grid Summit is a proven and successful format that creates lasting partnerships and enables ongoing collaboration," said Harris M. Warsaw, Vice President, General Business of the Americas for IBM, a title sponsor of the RSGS. "Based on my experience at similar events, IBM has the opportunity to understand the current and future needs and wants of the electric coop sector in a unique and productive environment that is not at all like a traditional trade show or expo."
The RSGS is still open to any Smart Grid vendor interested in sponsoring this event. However, the sponsorships are exclusive and limited to about 40 companies that will discuss and disclose their Smart Grid solutions and products. Senior level discussions will take place at the RSGS that may disclose and help create collaboration on future products.
In addition, some of the most important senior decisions makers affecting the future of the Smart Grid—from the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology—will be speakers and presenters at the Summit.
Dr. Robert Atkinson, the founder and president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, a Washington, DC-based technology policy think tank whose mission is to formulate and promote public policies to advance technological innovation and productivity, will be the keynote speaker in October.
