Romantic Dinner at Home - Top Valentine's Day Wish

OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Omaha Steaks today announced that in a recent nationwide Valentine's Day survey of more than 1,000 Americans, nearly 92% of those responding indicated that they would enjoy their Valentine surprising them this year with a romantic dinner for two at home. Additionally, nearly 60% of those responding further indicated that they feel the most loved on Valentine's Day when their Valentine cooks them a romantic candlelight dinner and says "I Love You" in person. A preference for a romantic dinner served at home (59%) trumped both special gifts like jewelry (44%) or the more traditional flower and candy gifts (55%), as the most desired Valentine's Day present.

When it comes to dining at home, respondents cited crowd avoidance (71%), quiet (70%), and romantic (65%) as the top three advantages to dining at home. When it comes to what's on the menu, beef and steak tied with lobster and shrimp as the most popular dinner entrees.

Also of interest, the survey revealed that there's not much need to worry about what to wear for a Valentine's Day celebration at home. Casual dress was preferred (63%), with 9% of respondents indicating that clothing for an at-home Valentine's Day celebration is optional. Dressing in lingerie/sleepwear was the preferred dress of 7% of respondents, with black tie/formal wear being chosen by less than 3%.
