Roger Ebert Devotees Track Oscars Through GoWatchIt.com
World's best-known film critic teams up with Web's only application that allows tracking of movies across all platforms
NEW YORK, Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Plexus Entertainment, developer of GoWatchIt.com, today announced a partnership with Roger Ebert to launch "Roger Ebert's Guide to Watching the Oscars Films." Now, movie fans visiting Ebert's web property, as well as GoWatchit.com, can easily see where the Oscar-nominated films are available to watch on multiple online and offline movie services (in theateres, DVD, Blu-ray, Netflix, iTunes etc). Users can also add the movies to their Watch It movie queues and be alerted when the films become available on new services.
Specially designed for the 84th Academy Awards season and for Roger Ebert's site, the "Watch It" Oscars application can be found at http://www.rogerebert.com on the right-hand side under "Watch The Oscar Films" and on GoWatchit.com under the "Channels" tab.
After the Oscars, Ebert will continue to work with GoWatchit.com to curate his Watch It channel with notable films so that his readers will be able to continue to enjoy the functionality of the Watch It site.
"We at GoWatchIt.com are thrilled to be a featured channel on Roger Ebert's website to help usher in the 84th Academy Awards and celebrate the nominees and winners that night," said David Larkin, CEO, Plexus Entertainment. "The Watch It button solves a universal problem for movie fans -- which is keeping track of all the movies they want to see, and determining where they can be found."
The Watch It Button is a universal bookmarking system for digital content. This groundbreaking "super movie queue" allows consumers to find, bookmark, track, and view films across multiple distribution platforms including theaters, DVD and Blu-ray, Movies on Demand, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, iTunes, SnagFilms, Redbox, VUDU, and any new entrant into the space.
All users of the Watch It Button can create and maintain personalized queues of movies they want to see, with a wide range of tools for sorting and filtering those movies that they have queued. Watch It also allows consumers to share their movie choices and viewing plans with friends via registration from Facebook Connect.
"One of the problems with movies 'On Demand' is that people never seem to know where to find them. Watch It is a form of one-stop shopping that makes sense to me. I've linked it to our Oscars section," said Roger Ebert, world-renowned film critic.
In addition to RogerEbert.com, the Watch It button can be found on the web properties of some of the most premiere names in entertainment content. Existing flagship partners include TribecaFilm.com, Variety.com, TheWrap.com, Indiewire, SnagFilms, Filmmaker Magazine (an IFP publication) and MRQE.com.
