EXETER, N.H., Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- RiverWoods Exeter, a premier CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community), and affiliate of The RiverWoods Group (TRWG), today announced they have raised $165,000 at the biennial RiverWoods Gala Auction, to benefit Seacoast Family Promise. This is the largest amount ever raised by any RiverWoods Gala.
Seacoast Family Promise (SFP) has been serving families in need from a range of backgrounds since 2003, helping families experiencing homelessness to find stable housing and return to self-sufficiency. Whether it's due to a lost job, poor health of a family member, or any number of unforeseen circumstances, Seacoast Family Promise provides initial temporary housing, food and shelter.
The Gala event was held at RiverWoods with record-breaking donations and sponsorships. RiverWoods Exeter staff and residents donated hundreds of hours of time to make this event a great success.
From the first year RiverWoods Exeter opened, the community has held a fundraiser for another local nonprofit, in support of their mission to give back. Today, the RiverWoods Exeter community contributes hundreds of hours annually to numerous nonprofits. The 2018 RiverWoods Gala is part of a more than two decade-long tradition of investing in social capital which has produced over $765,000 for local charities from a total of eleven galas.
Residents at RiverWoods Exeter selected Seacoast Family Promise from over 22 local nonprofits focusing on family health and well-being. Over 92 percent of families who have gone through Seacoast Family Promise's program have secured permanent housing and remained stable in the 14 years this organization has been operating.
"Seacoast Family Promise is honored to have been chosen by RiverWoods Exeter as their partner," says Pati Frew-Waters, Executive Director of Seacoast Family Promise. "We feel the value of this partnership is shown not only in dollars, but in the strength and support it brings to the greater community."
"With so many worthy applicants-- It was a difficult decision to select just one partner," said RiverWoods Exeter Outreach Committee Co-Chair, Penny Teodorczyk. "Seacoast Family Promise serves an important need in this community and builds lasting community and that is one of our primary goals for the partnership. This is a strong opportunity for RiverWoods Exeter residents and staff to help SFP make a positive and sustainable impact for Seacoast families in need and we couldn't be more excited."
CCRCs welcome people 62 years or older, to enter as independent residents. Residents enjoy amenities from housekeeping, laundry, dining and maintenance, to educational programs and exercise classes, while making friends and cultivating community. As they age, if a resident needs more care, it is available to them within the same campus. The lifestyle of RiverWoods Exeter residents is largely created by residents themselves, and resident committees like the one that leads the biennial Gala create some of the most meaningful RiverWoods traditions for residents and the community at-large.
