Riveridge Brings Exclusive Apple Variety to Kroger Grocery Stores in Detroit

DETROIT, Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On February 12, 2011, Kroger grocery stores will hold special events at six Detroit locations to celebrate the debut of Red Prince apples in their 35 Detroit stores. Red Prince is a premium apple variety brought to Kroger stores by the variety's exclusive U.S. distributor, Riveridge Produce Marketing, Inc.

The community is invited to this public event for free samples of the Red Prince apple and an opportunity to meet the "Prince" – a medieval-clad character representing this high-quality apple. At the Birmingham and Coolidge Highway/Troy stores, patrons can meet and greet the grower family responsible for pioneering this fruit in North America.

Available for a limited time at Kroger stores (February to April); the Red Prince apple is a full flavored fruit with a mildly sweet taste excellent for snacking, salads and baking. It is unlike many varieties in that its flavor peaks during the winter season.
