Ring in the Christmas Spirit - Give Something and Get Something - Join the Fun and Kick Off the Walmart Salvation Army Red Kettle Season in North Versailles
CARNEGIE, Pa., Nov. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Join in the fun. Give something. Get something. The North Versailles Walmart is ready to ring in The Salvation Army's Christmas season. The public is invited to share in the festivities Wednesday, November 16th at 10:00 a.m. In addition to holiday music and refreshments, Walmart has generously donated a limited number of gift cards to be distributed randomly to the crowd by Secret Santas.
Marcy Park, Walmart Market Manager and member of The Salvation Army's Greater Pittsburgh Advisory Board has put her heart and soul into the Red Kettle Campaign. "Marcy and the good folks at Walmart have become a part of The Salvation Army family," said Major Mark Mackneer, The Salvation Army's Western Pennsylvania Division's Allegheny County Coordinator. "Walmart is a critical part of this campaign. We raise almost 30% of our total Red Kettle dollars in front of Walmart stores. We couldn't do it without them!"
Weekly results will be tallied and displayed on posters prominently displayed in each store located in the following communities: West Mifflin; North Versailles; Robinson; Bethel Park; Pittsburgh Mills; Gibsonia; Natrona Heights; Carnegie; and Freeport Road. In 2010, Walmart Red Kettles raised nearly $700,000 for The Salvation Army's 28-county Western Pennsylvania Division, Red Kettle income remains within the communities in which it is raised. The 2011 Red Kettle goal is more than 3 million dollars.
