LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Two of the largest names of the Internet, Rhett & Link and Chester See, have teamed up with 62 top digital stars including Tyler Oakley, Lilly Singh, Grace Helbig and Shane Dawson to launch Trivy, a first-of-its kind mobile trivia game.
Trivy consists of general trivia questions with a wide range of topics including entertainment, science, current events and many more, which users can download from iTunes for free. Users also have the option to purchase add-on trivia packs, which contain questions from 64 of the biggest content creators on YouTube, Vine, Twitter and Snapchat, a group that collectively has over 175 million subscribers on YouTube alone. In a move unseen in the digital world, the questions in the creators' trivia packs come from the creators themselves, so fans are getting a very personal look into the lives of their favorite stars.
"We teamed up with tech entrepreneur and former venture capitalist Abdul Khan, who has been behind companies like Pandora and Ancestry.com, to create a game that transcends the current benefits of the direct to consumer model by introducing a new way of engaging with fans," says See. "Once we started development, we realized it was an opportunity for the biggest digital names to get involved, and for #TeamInternet to band together," Link Neal and Rhett McLaughlin add.
The concept of the trivia packs is simple: fans test their knowledge of their favorite digital creators to see how much they know about them. As players answer questions correctly, they advance to higher levels and unlock coins they may use later when a question arises they may not know. Players can also use the "streak" feature to answer as many questions as possible in a row, with the goal of continuously trying to beat their highest score. Unlike other trivia games, players can play both on their own and against others by sharing their scores, and the digital creators have the ability to update their question packs, creating a fresh and constantly-evolving game for users.
Trivy is now available for download in the iTunes Store and at http://trivygame.com/app with 64 Creator packs. As more Creators join the game, additional packs will be available. The following packs are available at launch:
