Revealed -- Australia's Top 100 Most Admired Women
SYDNEY, Oct. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Australia's Most Admired Woman is to be publicly revealed for the first time on Wednesday 12 October.
The findings are contained in the inaugural Top 100 Most Admired Women in Australia report, compiled by Million Dollar Woman.
The analysis ranks the country's most revered women from 1-100, including the Top 10 as voted by each generation:
- Generation Z (aged under 17)
- Generation Y (aged 17-31)
- Generation X (aged 32-46)
- Baby Boomers (aged 47-66)
- Builders (aged 67 and above)
Million Dollar Woman CEO Lynette Argent said the findings would surprise, and possibly confound, many Australians.
"This study lifts a lid on who captures our interest, who displays highly regarded qualities like grit, perseverance, integrity and honesty," Ms Argent said.
"It is a fascinating insight into the Australian psyche, and provides a contemporary view of what it is to be an Australian leader.
"Is renowned feminist Germaine Greer or former politician Pauline Hanson more admired? Each believes passionately in their own views, and has their own loyal followings.
"Do we revere acclaimed businesswoman and Westpac CEO Gail Kelly more than Cate Blanchett, who is an Academy award winning actor?"
The report identifies the Most Admired Woman in every state, and uncovers the Most Admired Professions from the following 10 categories:
- Entertainment
- Sports
- Politics
- Music
- Food
- Business and Law
- Charities
- Not-for-profits
- Community Leaders
- Arts
- Culture and Writers
- Academia, Science and Health
- Fashion & Models
Ms Argent said Australians would be interested to know which careers we marvel at most.
She said Australians would be fascinated to know where the country's first female Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, ranked alongside Queensland Premier Anna Bligh, former NSW Premier Kristina Kenneally and the country's legion of Hollywood stars.
The study also discloses whether the most admired Australian woman is a Queenslander, Western Australian, Victorian or whether they are from somewhere else.
"All will be revealed on Wednesday 12 October," she said.
