Rentrak Announces Top Ten Movies-on-Demand Titles for the First Six Months of 2011

PORTLAND, Ore., July 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Rentrak Corporation (NASDAQ: RENT) today announced the top ten movies-on-demand titles based on consumer transaction rate.  Movies-on-demand are transactional (pay-per-purchase) films available through cable and telco providers.

"Day-and-date video-on-demand releases are quickly becoming the industry standard, with eight of the top ten titles being released simultaneously with the home video availability. Comedy-themed films once again topped the charts when compared to the top titles of the previous year. The Drama category grabbed four of the ten spots in the VOD chart, which is up from three spots during the first six months of 2009. Once again, PG-13 films dominated the chart with six out of ten titles," said Kristie Fortner, Rentrak's Vice President of Analytical Solutions.
