Renowned Neurosurgeon Launches Kickstarter For High-Tech Posture Improving Wearable Device
Dr. Farhad Limonadi, CEO of Neurospectrum, Introduces the Monolith Posture Coach on Kickstarter
RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif., July 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Farhad Limonadi, MD, Director of Neurosurgery at Eisenhower Neuroscience Institute and CEO of biomechanics technology firm Neurospectrum, is asking for support on Kickstarter to help fund a mass-market production version of Neurospectrum's patented Monolith Posture Coach (US Patent # 2013/0201021 A1). This Bluetooth-connected wearable electronic posture aid and fashion accessory will integrate with iPhone and Android to provide rapid, active posture improvement with as little as 30 minutes of use each day.
According to the American Chiropractic Association, 31 million Americans suffer low-back pain every day, and up to 80% of the population will experience back problems during their lives. Poor posture is a factor in many cases, and good posture can reduce back problems. Therefore, posture aids are invaluable tools in the fight against spinal injury.
While many posture aids focus on specific ergonomic keys, like the neck or shoulder, Neurospectrum's interdisciplinary team set out to create a comprehensive posture device that both consumers and doctors will greatly value. The Monolith Posture Coach incorporates the expertise of spine specialists, clinicians, and biomechanical engineers to coach posture of all spine segments simultaneously.
"Understanding the importance of proper posture for spine health, we combined our diverse creative expertise to develop a light, portable, effective, low maintenance product," explains Dr. Limonadi, who previously worked as an IBM circuits engineer. "The Monolith Posture Coach provides an intuitive, minimally intrusive solution, ready for use right out of the box."
The Monolith Posture Coach monitors and keeps the posture of the entire spine in check efficiently and accurately. It takes into account biomechanics of all spinal regions to encourage healthy posture. This includes cervical segments, thoracic segments, lumbar segments, and abdominal musculature.
"While we are confident about our electronic posture aid's ability to improve spine health, our secondary goal with the Monolith is to pack this functionality into a fashion accessory with a low profile aesthetic," continues Dr. Limonadi.
Neurospectrum recently completed pilot production of the Monolith Posture Coach and is raising money on Kickstarter for a mass-market launch of a more refined Monolith Posture Coach. Supporters who pledge $70.00 or more will receive the Monolith Posture Coach in the first funded mass market production run.
