NEW YORK, May 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --Rekky, the new venue recommendation app for discerning tastemakers and global trendsetters, today announced its availability in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Rekky effectively eliminates the need to ask friends or check multiple publications when looking for recommendations on the hottest venues, globally.
With a map-based and deeply visual interface, Rekky offers users insights into the trendiest places from the people whose tastes and interests they know and trust, including trendsetter and DJ Harley Viera-Newton, downtown New York City chef Camille Becerra, creative collective The Misshapes (Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol) and stylish foodies Danielle & Laura Kosann (The New Potato) to curate personalized lists of their top suggested venues. The app's seamless integration with users' preexisting social media accounts makes it instantly accessible and content-rich without any effort on the user's part.
"Whenever I was looking for a new place to go, I had to consult so many different resources – from friends, to online publications, to magazines and more – to find the perfect venue," said Muhammad Saigol, Founder of Rekky. "Even with the help of all these sources, it was hard to tell if a restaurant or bar was intimate versus lively, for example, from the impersonal photos that often accompany articles. I wanted to pool all of my trusted sources into one place - with honest visuals - serving as the ultimate guide and ensuring that I always know where to go."
How Rekky Works:
Rekky aggregates check-ins from users' Instagram, Facebook and Foursquare accounts to provide them with venue recommendations ('rekkies') vetted by trendsetters, influencers and the friends they trust.
Rekky users sign in only once to link all of their social media accounts to the app, after which their geotagged photos from the other accounts appear in real-time. Users can immediately begin searching for restaurants, bars, galleries and various other entertainment venues by category, or simply by exploring using the 'Discover' and 'Lists' functions.
The app's 'Discover' tab suggests tastemakers for users to follow. The 'Lists' option features selections of venues curated by tastemakers, bloggers, media partners and friends from within users' networks. Users are also encouraged to become tastemakers themselves by curating their own personalized lists.
"As a visual platform that brings together all of your trusted sources in one place, Rekky serves as the global in-the-know guide, allowing users to travel confidently," said Saigol. "The app is curated to fit users' personal lifestyles and helps them to discover the world through the eyes of those who know it best."
Rekky is currently available to download for iOS through iTunes (http://apple.co/1PHE6ui). For additional information, please visit www.Rekky.co.
