Reebok Offers Workouts for the Price of a Handshake
Brand launches new campaign, 'HANDS', the latest evolution of Be More Human; makes thousands of top trainers available for free in key cities across America this week
CANTON, Mass., Jan. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On the heels of New Year's resolutions and looking ahead to a better tomorrow - global fitness leader Reebok is celebrating the latest evolution of its inspirational Be More Human campaign by offering free workouts from top trainers in key cities nationwide, and the only payment required is one simple handshake.
This initiative is part of the brand's inspiring new 2017 campaign, 'HANDS', an evolution of Reebok's revolutionary 'Be More Human' platform. 'HANDS' is centered on the message that our physicality and movement not only leaves marks on our hands, and bodies, but also deep within us. These marks make us kinder, braver, closer and ultimately more human. The film shows people from all corners of humanity, from the close-up perspective of their hands, as they push the limits of their potential and tell the stories of their lives.
To symbolize the message at the heart of the film, thousands of ReebokONE trainers and other personal trainers will be available across 10 U.S. cities from Tuesday, Jan. 17, to Friday, Jan. 20, offering workouts in exchange for a simple handshake as a way to physically and socially connect humans to one another through fitness.
Through the new trainer-on-demand app Handstand, adults living in New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle and Miami will be able to book a free personal training session from Jan. 17 through 20 and participate in the workout during the month of January. With the average price for a personal, 1-hour workout hitting $50, this means that over the course of the four-day 'Show of Hands' movement, Reebok is offering up to $250,000 worth of free workouts. "We're tremendously excited to move into this next phase of Be More Human, a mantra that underpins everything we do," said Yan Martin, Vice President, Global Brand Communications at Reebok. "Crucial to 'HANDS' is a recognition of the importance of human connection, of using the human body as a vehicle to communicate with one another and through which we strive to reach our potential. There could be no better expression of this than offering trainers from our ReebokONE Network to provide workouts in key cities, and only asking for a handshake in return. We look forward to seeing the impact this will have on people from all walks of life and across the country."
The ReebokONE network is a global collective of more than 106,000 trainers, each dedicated to improving people's lives through fitness and helping them to become more human. And there is no better time than January to begin becoming our best selves, with leading healthier and fitter lives historically being our No. 1 New Year's resolution priority.1
'HANDS' represents the continuation of Reebok's 'Be More Human campaign,' at the heart of which is the notion that physical effort is more than just an activity to improve the body. Hard work has the power to transform lives, by sharpening the mind, emboldening the spirit and liberating human potential. By pushing ourselves to the brink and testing our limitations, we become better partners, better leaders, better parents. Better humans.
Three brand films, 'HANDS', 'MOM' and 'SLIDE', which collectively show the direction the Reebok brand will be taking in 2017, are all available now and can be viewed here:
Eligible users from any of the 10 cities must book a session using the app, Handstand, between the period of Jan. 17 and Jan. 20 using the Free Reebok Workout option. They are then free to participate in the session anytime before the end of the month.
Reebok Instructor and internationally renowned Australian fitness and health professional Emily Skye visited New York to help launch 'HANDS' and lead the first official workouts.
"The desire and motivation for fitness exists in all of us - we just need a little encouragement to bring it out at times. This initiative from Reebok, to sweat it out in your home city with an elite 1-1 training session for simple cost of a handshake, is a great enabler to finding that fitness fire. Discovering the virtue of fitness was a huge step on my journey and I hope this is an opportunity for others across the United States to have the same experience". said Reebok trainer Emily Skye.
