Mr. Derrington has over 30 years of business leadership in the energy and facility solutions industry, where he has successfully led business operations from startup through initial public offering (IPO). Under Derrington's leadership over $3 billion in operational savings were delivered to customers worldwide, to include implementing the single largest energy savings performance project to date, delivering $955 million in guaranteed energy and operational savings to the federal government. Significant energy savings projects in the Washington, DC metropolitan area completed under his leadership include the U.S. Capitol Building, Senate Office Buildings, National Archives, and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
Mr. Derrington has played an instrumental role within industry trade groups focusing on removing business barriers, successfully advocating for open markets, and spurring innovation for the industry as a whole. He was previously appointed by the Secretary of Commerce to the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee (RE&EEAC). The Committee advises the Secretary on the development and implementation of programs and policies to expand the competitiveness of the U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency industries.

Mr. Derrington formerly served as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Ameresco, Inc. a vertically integrated provider of energy and facility solutions, renewable energy systems, energy infrastructure, energy supplies, and plant operation and maintenance services. Prior to joining Ameresco, Mr. Derrington was Co- Founder, President and Chief Operating Officer of Systems Engineering and Management Corporation (Systems Corp) a provider of integrated facility and energy solutions to federal, municipal, institutional, industrial and commercial facility owners domestically and internationally. Under his leadership Systems Corp became the leading provider of energy support services to the Department of Defense, including implementing one of its first performance based contracts. After Systems Corp was acquired by Exelon Corporation, Mr. Derrington continued to lead the business unit for Exelon, and later assumed a senior leadership role at Ameresco after its acquisition of his operating unit from Exelon. Mr. Derrington is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
