SAN FRANCISCO, April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rdio and Grupo Bandeirantes have announced a joint venture and powerful strategic partnership encompassing marketing, distribution, content and promotions that will significantly expand Rdio's presence in Brazil. This combination of the award-winning Rdio music service with the creativity, power and reach of Grupo Bandeirantes provides music fans in Brazil with the best of both a global and Brazilian digital music service and experience.

This announcement is the latest in a series of similar strategic local partnerships around the world, designed to create a richer and localized experience that accelerates new user registrations, active listeners and subscribers for Rdio, one of the world's leading music streaming services.
"This partnership is a major innovation in music distribution in Brazil," said Antonino Ruggiero, Vice President for Business Subscription of Grupo Bandeirantes, "Streaming music is a reality that will revolutionize the way we listen to and share music."
"As we have said publicly before, global expansion and localized customer experiences are key focuses for Rdio. Brazil is one of the most dynamic countries in the world with a vibrant music culture. In fact, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are among the top cities for Rdio users in the world," said Anthony Bay, CEO of Rdio. The alliance will also involve media support for Rdio from Metro Newspapers, through an on-going integration with Band.com.br, media placement in out-of-home properties and across Grupo affiliated TV programs.
With Rdio, music fans can access a massive catalog of over 25 million songs or start a custom internet radio station based on a song, album, playlist or another person.
