Range Rover Sports keeps things simple over Porsche
German crossover brings too much to the table
SAN ANTONIO, June 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Land Rover of San Antonio started producing a series of web pages that compare a Land Rover vehicle against a key competitor to give customers a very clear and concise way to do simple comparison shopping. The latest addition to the collection is looking at the 2014 Range Rover Sport vs. the 2014 Porsche Cayenne. Clearly, the 2014 Range Rover Sport is near the top of the Land Rover inventory for being an overall outstanding vehicle. The wild card will come into play to see how a company known for its roadsters will fare when the terrain goes from pavement to something less than pavement.

It isn't terribly useful to compare either of these cars on a interior luxury level. There is no clear winner. Certainly both companies are well versed in building top of the line luxury vehicles and that is clearly reflected in the 2014 Range Rover Sport and 2014 Porsche Cayenne. There are a few things that will allow the Range Rover Sport to inch past the Porsche crossover SUV. One of them actually has to do with the complicated list of engines that can be placed under the hood of the Porsche Cayenne. There are around five different choices that vary between diesel, a hybrid, V-8, V-6, turbocharged and naturally aspirated. It gets to be a bit much.
On a straight up comparison, the best match between the 2014 Range Rover Sport and 2014 Porsche Cayenne starts with a pair of middle ground V-8 engines. Customers can have a Range Rover Sport that carries a supercharged, 5.8-liter, V-8 engine that can make 510 horsepower will accelerate from zero-to-60 in 4.6 seconds. The competing Porsche engine is a turbocharged, 4.8-liter, V-8 with an available 500 horsepower and the same zero-to-60 mph time. Actually Porsche has chosen to go with a turbocharger versus a supercharger that is quicker to respond to throttle inputs.
