Each year, Celent, an independent research organization, looks for "key best practices in the use of technology that a 'model bank' would use." This year, Rabobank was honored for its implementation process of a new online banking system.
The system went live at the end of September 2009, and over the course of one weekend more than 30,000 users were migrated from the bank's old system to the new one. Since the launch, online banking enrollments have averaged a weekly increase of 33 percent.
Rabobank Chief Information Officer Erwin Martinez, who accepted the award May 13 at the Celent Innovation & Insight Day in New York, said, "Technology plays a key role in reaching our customers and providing world-class customer service."
In winning the award, Rabobank is among 18 financial institutions from around the globe recognized as industry leaders for their best online and technology practices.
"At a time when many banks are cutting back, Rabobank is investing in its customers and its future," said Martinez. "It is rewarding to know that we earned this recognition for our efforts to improve the quality of our customers' experience."
