WEST CHESTER, Pa., June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- QVC is getting into a California state of mind as the multimedia retailer prepares for this year's "QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE" in Santa Monica, Calif. On Saturday, June 11 from 4 to 6 PM (ET) or 1 to 3 PM (PT), QVC will broadcast live from the annual designer charity sale to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance (OCRFA), the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while helping women and their families.
During the two-hour shopping extravaganza, premier fashion, beauty, jewelry and more will be offered for HALF the manufacturer's suggested retail price* with 80 percent of the purchase price** of donated merchandise benefitting OCRFA. This year's broadcast will feature designer deals from top brands including philosophy, H by Halston, Josie Maran, Isaac Mizrahi Live!™, C. Wonder, Dooney & Bourke and many others.
"We are proud to join forces with OCRFA for the 10th consecutive year. Super Saturday has provided us with a platform to increase awareness of this horrible disease," said Rachel Ungaro, vice president, fashion and beauty merchandising, QVC. "QVC is committed to supporting the success and wellness of women through the power of relationships and together with OCRFA we are able to support this mission and raise valuable funds for research and patient support programs."
During the broadcast, viewers will be taken inside the exclusive star-studded Santa Monica event at the Historic Barker Hangar, and offered a firsthand look at the excitement behind the star-studded sale. Actress and fashion expert Lisa Rinna will be live on the red carpet interviewing celebrity attendees. On-site, QVC will be transforming its space into a virtual reality experience and lounge area that ties into this year's location and will be providing visitors with a simulated flight experience complete with two vintage mini cockpits. Viewers will also be able to catch a glimpse of the activation throughout the broadcast.
QVC will be live streaming on Facebook from the event and, as part of the #KeepinItTeal social media campaign, videos of celebrities and QVC designers will be featured to help raise awareness of ovarian cancer. Viewers will also be encouraged to share the videos on their social media platforms and explain why and for whom they are #KeepinItTeal. To help raise awareness for this year's broadcast, E!'s Fashion Police style-savvy friends Brad Goreski and Melissa Rivers appeared in both the print and television public service announcements to help expose the cause across the country.
"Ovarian cancer is one of the deadliest diseases women face and more needs to be done to raise awareness and funds," said Audra Moran, president and CEO, OCRFA. "QVC's Super Saturday broadcast has been a tremendous help in spreading OCRFA's message into millions of homes across the U.S."
"QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE" has generated more than $10.3 million since 2007.
