QNX to Provide Software Platform for Next-Generation Audi Infotainment System
DETROIT, June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Telematics Detroit 2010 Conference -- QNX Software Systems, the global leader in operating systems and middleware for the in-car telematics and infotainment market, today announced that Audi has chosen the QNX® Neutrino® operating system as the software platform for Audi's next-generation high-end infotainment system.
The new infotainment system will leverage several QNX technologies, including the QNX multimedia suite, which provides seamless integration with smartphones, media players, USB drives, and other mobile devices; QNX symmetric multiprocessing (SMP), which allows the system to take full advantage of its high-performance ARM Cortex-A9 multi-core processor; and QNX transparent distributed processing, which helps reduce overall hardware costs.
Audi's decision to use the QNX Neutrino RTOS is the latest development in a long and successful relationship between the two companies. QNX Software Systems already provides the operating system and multimedia middleware for Audi's MMI System, including the new MMI generation in the 2010 Audi A8, the first automotive system to provide 3D navigation powered by Google Earth.
