Purpura Takes Reins - Named Transwestern's Northeast Market Leader
Firm Will Expand All Lines of Business to Heighten Client Services
HOUSTON, June 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Transwestern today announces Steve Purpura has been named market leader for the Northeast, spanning New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Under Purpura's leadership, the firm will extend its intensive client-first approach throughout the Northeast as Transwestern expands its agency leasing, property and facilities management, tenant advisory, capital markets, research and sustainability services.
Current regional president, Patrick Robinson, has decided to leave the firm to pursue other interests. Under Robinson's stewardship, the company established and enjoyed significant growth in offices in Northern New Jersey, Connecticut and New York, and earlier this year it was named a "Best Place to Work" in both New York and New Jersey.
Over the last 12 years, Purpura and his partners successfully built a market-leading, highly competitive brokerage firm in Boston − Richards Barry Joyce & Partners LLC − which was acquired by Transwestern in fourth-quarter 2013 and rebranded as Transwestern│RBJ.
"We are creating something special in the Northeast U.S.," said Chip Clarke, Transwestern's president, Americas. "Steve and his partners built the preeminent real estate firm in Boston, and his broader leadership role will create a more powerful and robust firm to serve our clients in the Northeast and immediately heighten our profile in the market. By expanding Steve's role, we will extend our best practices and deliver first-in-class service throughout the Northeast."
Purpura will immediately begin recruiting the type of proven, like-minded producers Transwestern is known for to join the growing firm and complement the existing teams in the Northeast.
"The Northeast is an important region for our clients and Transwestern," said Mark Doran, Transwestern's chief operating officer. "This organizational change allows us to build upon the momentum begun by Patrick and exponentially advance client services in New York, New Jersey, Boston and throughout the region. We are grateful for Patrick's contributions, and we wish him well on his future endeavors and opportunities."
Purpura co-founded Richards Barry Joyce & Partners in 2001 and previously served as a vice president at Trammell Crow Co. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from the College of William & Mary, where he was captain of the men's basketball team.
