'Psychic Court' Signs Judge Larry Seidlin of Anna Nicole Smith Fame
Might Oak Entertainment brings Florida judge Larry Seidlin, who presided over the posthumous Anna Nicole Smith custody hearing, back to TV with a “spiritual vengeance" in a new court show format.
LOS ANGELES, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Larry Seidlin, the unflappable judge who gained fame and notoriety when he presided over the Anna Nicole Smith trial, will become the first TV judge to open his court to the paranormal as a means for uncovering the truth. In addition to relying on his years of judicial experience, Seidlin will be enlisting the help of those with extrasensory, clairvoyant and telepathic powers to help him decide cases.
“I’m opening my courtroom to those who deal in paranormal activities as a way to help uncover evidence and assist me in determining who’s telling the truth,” said Seidlin. “Psychics, clairvoyants, and the telepathic are much like judges in that they possess tremendous intuition. I often rely on my intuition to determine who’s being truthful and who's lying, and in 'Psychic Court' I'll benefit from the assistance of those who are experienced in the paranormal. It’s going to be amazing.”
The new court series will be produced in high definition and distributed by Mighty Oak Entertainment.
Mark O’Brien, president of Mighty Oak Entertainment, added: "Law enforcement agencies and attorneys have been using paranormal practitioners for years. And with the growing popularity of shows like Ghost Whisperer, Medium, Ghost Hunters, Psychic Kids and Paranormal State, we believe it was time to open up America's television courtrooms to the non-traditional truth seekers. We are pleased to be working with Judge Larry and look forward to bringing a totally different and compelling new court format to television."
Syndication industry veteran and cable producer O'Brien launched Mighty Oak Entertainment after holding a number of executive sales positions in the entertainment industry including at such companies as Telepictures and Warner Bros and is credited with helping launch court staples as "The People's Court," “Moral Court," “Superior Court" and "Judge Mathes."
“Psychic Court” is the fourth dimension of court proceedings with most of the cases focusing on compelling family court, divorce court and small claim disputes. After all the worldly evidence has been heard from the defendant and plaintiff, Judge Larry will call on members of the psychic community, (who will have visited with the litigants prior to the show), to share their opinions. The psychics will take the stand, give testimony and present new evidence gathered from beyond in an effort to assist Judge Larry in deciding each case...which will be binding arbitration.
There are dozens of recognized psychic disciplines. "Psychic Court" will employ the services of top practitioners from the most popular paranormal categories, including:
*Mediums – Who will channel and communicate directly with the dead to gain new evidence.
*Astrologists – Who will uncover character defects based on the alignment of stars.
*Tarot Card Readers – Who will expose lies with the help of their mystical deck of cards.
*Remote Viewers – Who will visit the time and place of the conflict to provide eyewitness testimony.
*Faith-Based Sensitives – Who will consult with angels and saints to garner information critical to the case.
Seidlin was a judge for the Circuit Court of the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of the State of Florida in and for Broward Country. He served as the presiding judge during the infamous posthumous custody hearing regarding Anna Nicole Smith's body. During the proceedings, Seidlin frequently threw out comedic one-liners, sending the courtroom into bursts of laughter by calling lawyers nicknames like "Texas" and "California," and badgering attorneys with repeated interruptions about bad grammar and questionable strategies. He also interrogated witnesses himself and even made broad, bold declarations such as "I am the trier of fact" and "We are here on a search for the truth." He retired from the bench in Summer of 2007.
Today, he’s written and published the book “The Killing of Anna Nicole Smith,” which was released in the United Kingdom to brisk sales. For its U.S. release, Judge Larry will be making promotional appearances on NBC’s “Today Show,” ABC’s “The View,” “Fox and Friends” and the Premier Radio Network.
