We will pay the dividend on October 13, 2011 to shareholders who own our stock as of September 29, 2011. Under the dividend policy, our Board of Directors anticipates a total annual dividend of $1.00 per share, to be paid in equal quarterly installments, commencing with the dividend announced today. However, any decision to pay future cash dividends is subject to the Board's final determination after a comprehensive review of the company's financial performance, future expectations and other factors deemed relevant by the Board.
"Today's dividend announcement is a product of our 20-year track record of success and a reflection of our commitment to the continuing success of our operations," said W. Stancil Starnes, our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He added, "Over the past two decades, we have built a superior balance sheet and grown our business through effective M&A transactions and organic expansion—all with the goal of delivering unmatched service and security to our policyholders and meaningful value to our shareholders. We expect that this carefully considered dividend policy will complement continued share repurchase as part of our ongoing capital management efforts."
