With the DK Squad acquisition, PGL has acquired the League of Legends (LoL) Champions App for Android, the most successful Android LoL app with close to 3 million downloads and over 360,000 active users. The app is used by League of Legends players to look up champions and strategize their game play against them. League of Legends is the leading hit multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game developed by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. PGL is building a strong following in eSports competitive play, which prompted PGL to acquire DK Squad to build its brand and reach among competitive gamers.
The League of Legends Champions App shows information of all champions currently playable in the game. The app can be used to study any Champion to enhance a player's gaming experience.
"The app is an excellent tool to introduce and onboard yet another community to the PGL platform and strengthen our existing user base," said Chad Larsson, President of PGL. "With DK Squad we have acquired the assets to strengthen our community and our mobile presence with the most downloaded Android app for League of Legends players. We look forward to building out the app in iOS and expect to increase our mobile user base substantially."
For each Champion, users can study and utilize:
- Cost (IP, RP)
- Basic stats (health, health regeneration, resources, movement speed, etc.)
- Tips on how to play/play against
- Skills description (what they do, damage/scaling numbers, cost, cool-down)
- Skills videos
- Champion lore as well as filter the Champions by their attributes by pressing the menu button on champion select screen
- Skins (View full splash, share, save as background, save)
Daniel Kim, founder of DK Squad, will be joining PGL as lead mobile developer. Kim worked for various companies such as Desire2Learn, TD Bank, and AltEgo as a developer. He started creating Android apps as a hobby until the Champions app reached over 1 million users, then decided to create DKSquad.
The League of Legends Champions Android App is available for download at Google Play.
