President Bill Clinton Attends Official Campus Inauguration of Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas

BALTIMORE, May 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- President Bill Clinton spoke to hundreds of students and faculty yesterday at the official inauguration of the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) San Isidro campus -- a modern, state-of-the-art facility in Lima, Peru. The campus will serve 7,500 students who are working to complete degree programs in engineering, communications, business administration, law and economics.

At the San Isidro campus inauguration, President Clinton praised the work UPC has undertaken to become a leader in the Peruvian higher education system, and talked about the vital role that university graduates will play in Peru's continued development. "Peru has been a great success story here in Latin America," said President Clinton.  "I have no doubt that the students at UPC will play an important role in continuing to help shape their country's future."

Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, which is part of the Laureate International Universities network, is recognized as being among the top private universities in Peru. It serves more than 30,000 students in undergraduate, graduate and working-adult degree programs in architecture, business, communication, engineering, health sciences and medicine. The university's students strive not only for academic and professional excellence, but also are committed to making a profound positive impact on their local communities. UPC medical students, for example, provided free or inexpensive medical care to more than 2,500 community members as part of their studies in 2012.
