Pop-Dot Develops Campaign to Support the City of Madison's New Public Listening Initiative
"Imagine Madison" empowers citizens to provide input on key issues that will inform the City's Comprehensive Plan
MADISON, Wis., Sept. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Pop-Dot today announced a partnership with the City of Madison, in which the agency was tasked with developing a strategic branded campaign to support a public listening initiative spearheaded by the City's Planning Division.
The program, conceived by the City of Madison and members of the community, is intended to elicit the opinions of residents, across the broadest range of population segments possible, regarding major issues. The feedback from the community will directly impact the City's long-term Comprehensive Plan.
To achieve the City of Madison's goals, Pop-Dot developed a campaign which the agency aptly titled: "Imagine Madison." From visual branding elements to targeted campaign strategies, Pop-Dot is working hand-in-hand with the Planning Division ahead of the December 2016 campaign launch.
"Imagine Madison will allow every person to provide a unique point-of-view and vision regarding community issues," says Pop-Dot President, Jason Fish. "The City's desire to get feedback from a multitude of perspectives aligns perfectly with the agency's values. At Pop-Dot, one of our founding principles is 'respect for the view from, and the power of, all perspectives.' It's an honor for us to create an innovative campaign that empowers the people of Madison to be a integral to the planning process."
Pop-Dot's tagline says it all: "People Powered Planning." The campaign will include community meetings, grassroots activation efforts, and social media engagement to empower citizens to step forward and voice opinions on issues that face Madison now and in the future.
As part of a national trend implementing citizen-directed urban projects such as the "Better Cities Movement" and "Crowdsourcing NYC," "Imagine Madison" is part of a natural progression for community-driven initiatives that help inform long-term city planning.
"We can be a stronger community by listening to one another, respecting a range of voices, and imagining together how Madison can remain a very special place," says Pop-Dot Partner, Kate Ewings. "Pop-Dot is a brand strategy and innovation agency. So this intelligent, forward-thinking project was a perfect fit from day one."
