MOUNT POCONO, Pa., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Mount Airy Casino Resort, Poconos landmark destination offering incomparable casino gaming, picturesque setting, ambiance, fine dining, luxury accommodations, outdoor activities and unrivalled amenities, today announced a string of executive moves including the promotions of Stephen Blank Jr., to Vice President of Marketing and Matthew Magda, Vice President of Resort Operations.

Stephen Blank, Jr., Vice President of Marketing
Stephen Blank Jr. was promoted to Vice President of Marketing, following his role as Executive Director of Marketing at Mount Airy Casino Resort. Blank's new role encompasses execution of all marketing and promotions operations for the property. He first joined the company as a Financial Analysis Manager. Prior to joining Mount Airy Casino Resort, Blank worked as a Financial Analyst at Harrah's Entertainment in Chester, PA.
Proud of his local roots, Blank grew up five minutes from Mount Airy Casino Resort and graduated from Pocono Mountain East High School, next door to the Casino on Woodland Road. Blank holds a Master of Business Administration from American InterContinental University. Prior to graduate studies, Blank graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. Blank serves as the President of the Alumni Board of Trustees of the Delta Chi Fraternity of East Stroudsburg University.
Matthew Magda, Vice President of Resort Operations
Matthew Magda was promoted to Vice President of Resort Operations. In this position, Magda will be responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of the Security, EVS, Facilities, Golf Sales and Golf Operations departments. Magda joined Mount Airy prior to the re-opening in 2007.
Magda began his career in gaming in 1997 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, in the Security Department. A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Magda has worked in that jurisdiction at the MGM Grand, The Regent Las Vegas and the Palms Casino Resort before relocating to Northeast Pennsylvania. Magda's role includes serving as the Project Manager for the construction of Table Games. He has been instrumental in the transition of the property from a slot resort to a full service gaming resort.
Donald P. Shiffer III, Esq., Vice President and General Counsel
Donald P. Shiffer III, Esq. was promoted to Vice President and General Counsel. Don is a native of northeastern Pennsylvania and a graduate of Abington Heights High School, Gettysburg College, and Penn State School of Law. He began his legal career clerking for Pennsylvania Supreme Court with Justice J. Michael Eakin. With significant regulatory experience through the course of his practice, one of Shiffer's key roles at Mount Airy Casino Resort is direct regulatory compliance with all rules and regulations set forth by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, as well as all other state and federal law. Shiffer's role is integral within the organization as Mount Airy looks forward to commencing table game operations this summer.
James Tuthill, Jr., Vice President of Casino Operations
James Tuthill, Jr., was promoted to Vice President of Casino Operations. In his role, Tuthill will establish gaming practices for the Mount Airy Table Game Department and operations related to Slots and Table game departments at the casino resort. Prior to joining Mount Airy Casino Resort, he specialized in daily operations of the Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin, in Nevada, and the Sands Hotel and Casino, in Atlantic City, N.J.
A second generation casino executive, Tuthill has held Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Gaming and Vice President of Casino Manager positions for the Casino at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and has held virtually every position related to table games in a casino since entering the field in the early 1970's. Since then, Tuthill has worked on behalf of companies in Australia, Aruba, Florida, Nevada, Puerto Rico and New Jersey and has conducted seminars and participated as a guest lecturer for Drexel University in Philadelphia and Atlantic Cape Community College in Atlantic County, NJ. Currently serving as a liaison for Northampton Community College, Tannersville, PA, Tuthill has helped design and implement curriculum for the school's new table games certification program in conjunction with Mount Airy Casino Resort. Tuthill attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas' College of Hotel Administration from 1968 through 1972.
Preben Wulff, Vice President Hotel and Food and Beverage Operations
Preben Wulff was promoted to Vice President of Hotel/Food and Beverage Operations. In this position, Wulff will be responsible for front desk, guest services, valet, bell stand/concierge, housekeeping, newsstand, box office, culinary department and stewarding, restaurants, banquet catering, bars, nightclub and convention sales. Previously, he served as Mount Airy Casino Resort's Executive Director of Hotel Operations. Wulff has an extensive background in hotel and food and beverage industries.
A native of Denmark, he began his 20-plus year hospitality career in Europe at ultimate service and lifestyle hotels in both London and Paris. He relocated to Washington D.C., at the Hotel Hay Adams, a luxury boutique hotel located across from the White House. Following this experience, Wulff joined Hilton Hotels and Hyatt Corporation before embarking on gaming/casino industry experience at Caesar's Hotel and Casino, Atlantic City, NJ. He later worked for Atlantic City's Sand's Casino Hotel. Wulff has served as campaign chairman for Caesars Atlantic City United Way and head of the Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, a gourmet society originating in France.
