Pinterest, Michael Kors, Style Network And More To Bring Fashion Week To Everyone
Designers, brands, and insiders share the upcoming season's collections, trends, and the inspiration behind them
SAN FRANCISCO, NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Pinterest, Michael Kors, Style Network and dozens of other New York Fashion Week insiders are teaming up to bring the event to millions of people all over the world. Through a new Fashion Week hub, appearing at pinterest.com/fashionweek, fashion designers, brands, and style experts from New York Fashion Week will give people a unique glimpse into the inspiration behind the upcoming season's hottest trends.
"There are more than two million fashion pins pinned to Pinterest every day, so we know that fashion insiders are already using Pinterest as a source of inspiration and we wanted to help share that with the world," said Katie Garlinghouse, head of community at Pinterest. "With our Fashion Week hub, millions of people now have access to the stories and inspirations behind Fashion Week, making it easier for them to interpret these trends in their real lives."
On the Fashion Week hub, people can expect to discover boards about the details inspiring the latest collections, suggestions on how to bring the looks to life, and behind-the-scenes access to some of the biggest shows, from designers like Michael Kors. "The launch of the Pinterest NYFW hub gives us another opportunity to bring inspiration from the runway in New York to women across the country," said Lisa Pomerantz, Senior Vice President, Global Communications and Marketing, Michael Kors. "It's important for Michael to be able to connect with his fans and customers. Our 'Lights. Camera. Fashion!' Pinterest board illustrates how Michael would dress a woman for New York's fashion week: glamorous, sexy and daring."
Pinterest also has partnered exclusively with Style Network to bring Fashion Week inspiration to TV. Style Network will air "The 'IT' List: Top 10 Fall Trends" special that counts down the top 10 trends viewers will want to wear this Fall on Thursday, September 12 at 9pm ET/PT. The Pinterest integration will feature popular pinners and style bloggers showing people at home how to make the season's latest trends come to life. Style will provide trend alerts on-air, detailing pins from fashion influencers and directing viewers to Pinterest. A "Just Pinned" feature will be embedded in the dedicated Fashion Week section on StyleNetwork.com which also links to the network's Fashion Week Pinterest board.
"Given our commitment to the fashion category, Style's partnership with Pinterest during the premier event of the season is the perfect opportunity to enhance our annual coverage at Fashion Week," said Nicole Sabatini, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Style. "Through our air, StyleNetwork.com and the Style-curated board, fashionistas at home will be able to actively engage with the designers and styles by customizing the trends of the season to fit their own individual looks."
