Piedmont Town Center Wins LEED Gold Certification
Mixed-use SouthPark offices rated through existing buildings program
CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The two office towers at Piedmont Town Center in SouthPark earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Piedmont Town Center is a mixed-use project with 415,000 square feet of office space in two towers, 75,000 square feet of retail space and about 180 luxury residential units. The office component includes the headquarters of Piedmont Natural Gas and features two eight-story buildings connected by a pedestrian-friendly street system with nearby parking, shopping, dining and recreation.
"The LEED Gold rating puts the office towers among Charlotte's elite green facilities," said Pam Padgett, vice president of property management for Crescent Resources. "We're thrilled Piedmont Town Center has been recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council."
Owned by Principal Real Estate Investors, Piedmont Town Center was certified under the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED for existing buildings operations and maintenance program. The program's goal is to maximize efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts through cleaning, maintenance, recycling and systems upgrades.
Over the past 16 months, the Crescent Resources property management team worked diligently to achieve LEED certification. The project's LEED consultant was LORD Green Real Estate Strategies, Inc., a Dallas company that specializes in greening existing buildings. Houston-based Transwestern provided the project's commissioning services and ensured that all the building systems and components were designed, installed, operated and maintained efficiently.
Located in the heart of the SouthPark community, Piedmont Town Center offers the best in open-air retail mixed with stylish residential space, office facilities and structured parking. It is on Fairview Road, southeast Charlotte's major east-west thoroughfare, near SouthPark Mall. Visit www.PiedmontTownCenter.com for more information.
