Philips Leads Lighting Innovation with Broadest Portfolio of LED Solutions
PHILADELPHIA, May 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2011 – Philips demonstrates its global leadership in LED lighting at Lightfair by showcasing the industry's most extensive portfolio of LED lighting solutions for offices, shops, homes and outdoor environments. The company will be introducing groundbreaking new innovations that are illuminating the future by their energy-efficiency, durability and design.
Numerous Philips solutions will be on display this week during LIGHTFAIR® International, North America's largest architectural and commercial lighting show. Philips will particularly showcase its latest LED lighting innovations:
- New and enhanced outdoor lighting solutions and systems, such as the Philips Hadco RX1 LED solution, which are rapidly being deployed by U.S. municipalities, eager to improve light quality, energy efficiency and citizen safety.
- Advanced home, office and professional lighting solutions that are improving energy-efficiency and design, without compromising quality, performance, sustainability or budgetary requirements. These include solutions such as Philips Ledalite's JUMP luminaire, an intelligent LED luminaire developed for high-performance indoor lighting systems.
- The introduction of the world's first LED replacement for the 75-watt incandescent bulb, the Philips EnduraLED 17-watt, designed to meet or exceed ENERGY STAR qualifications. Its rated life is 25 times longer, while consuming 80% less energy than a traditional bulb.
- Philips' LED replacement for a 60-watt incandescent, the Philips EnduraLED 12.5-watt is also the world's first 60-watt equivalent to earn ENERGY STAR qualification as an energy-efficient and high-quality lighting solution.
"Philips continues to broaden its offering of lighting solutions for professional applications, maximizing the potential of light to help cities ensure their roads are better lit and safer, helping building owners create inspiring office environments, and helping retailers use lighting to enhance the shopping experience," said Zia Eftekhar, CEO, Philips Lighting North America. "Spearheaded by our global leadership in LED, our entire portfolio is focused on providing innovative lighting options that appeal to the environmental, economic and design needs of our diverse customer base."
LED Leadership
With today's announcement of its replacement for 75-watt incandescent lamps, the Philips EnduraLED 17-watt (also known, in the consumer channel, as the AmbientLED 17-watt), is solidifying Philips' leadership and commitment to LED technology and solutions. The new product will be available in the United States in Q4 2011.
The EnduraLED 17-watt arrives on the heels of the EnduraLED 12.5-watt, Philips' LED replacement for 60-watt incandescent bulbs, which are the most commonly used in the world. Now, it is also the first 60-watt LED equivalent to earn ENERGY STAR certification – further testament to Philips' commitment to LED advancement.
Creating Livable Cities
Philips is partnering with mayors and municipalities, architects and urban planners to improve the livability of cities by increasing citizens' sense of comfort, security and safety with lighting that's good for the planet, too. Many cities and counties in the U.S. – including Altoona, PA; Weston, FL; and Boston, MA, to name a few – have adopted Philips LED solutions, generating substantial energy and cost savings with uniform and comfortable white light that significantly improves visibility while reducing the need for maintenance.
At Lightfair, Philips is featuring several innovative LED street lighting solutions such as the Philips Hadco RX1, Philips Gardco Gullwing, and Philips Wide-lite portfolio that are being embraced by cities in the U.S. Their design and performance make them suitable for several applications, such as city centers, streetscapes, parking lots and roadways and they can be easily upgraded as LED technology evolves.
Philips Lighting Industry Awards and Recognition
Philips has consistently delivered products and solutions that meet or exceed sustainability guidelines, without compromising design and product performance.
Over the last few months, 8 Philips products were recognized by the Department of Energy's Next Generation Luminaire awards, 17 received Red Dot Design awards, and the company received three market leadership recognitions by Architectural Solid State Lighting. Some of the many award-winners being displayed at Lightfair are the RX1 from Philips Hadco for outdoor lighting, as well as the Jump luminaire from Philips Ledalite and the Omega Revelation LED Downlight from Philips Daybrite for indoor applications.
